Seedy Saturday – Seed Swap, Potato Day and Green Fair 2012

The next Seedy Saturday in North-East Somerset will be held at Farmborough Memorial Hall, Little Lane, Farmborough, BA2 0AE, on Saturday 10 March 2012 from 10am to 2pm. Entrance: £1 on the door (under 16s enter free).

The North-East Somerset Seedy Saturday is an annual seed swap and green fair for Seed Savers, keen growers and anyone aiming for a more sustainable lifestyle. It is an opportunity to share seeds, pick up some new and interesting varieties, exchange tips and experiences and find out more about local community groups and initiatives. Find out more about what a seed swap is all about >>

Traders and exhibitors in 2012

In addition to the Seed Swap, there will be exhibitors and traders, plus local crafts, plants and produce to browse. Those confirmed so far are:

Beans and Herbs (The Herbary)
Supplier of beans, herbs, green manure and sprouting seeds that specialises in and promotes the cultivation of herbs and top yielding, delicious-tasting, high protein beans for the home producer.

Jutta’s Pet Designs
Fun products raising money for The Cinnamon Trust and Happy Landings Animal Shelter.

Mendip Gardening Club
The Mendip Gardening Club meets on the third Wednesday each month in Ston Easton Hall and has interesting and informative talks on a range of subjects.

Pennard Plants
Putting the ‘potato’ into our Potato Day with 80 plus varieties of potatoes for sale by the single tuber, plus onion sets, shallots, garlic, heritage seeds, fruit trees, rhubarb crowns and much more.

Transition Keynsham
A collective of individuals who have been inspired by the Transition movement, planning a positive future for Keynsham in a world without cheap energy, aiming to help build a more localised economy, collecting and developing traditional and modern skills, and re-establishing local resource resilience for the wellbeing of everyone.

Heritage vegetable and flower seeds, plus flowering bulbs.
